A Verified EPD for the Modular Viritopia ® Living Wall System

Understanding the true environmental impact of our products matter. And now, there’s independently verified data behind the Modular Viritopia ® Living Wall System.
We’re pleased to share that our Viritopia ® Living Wall System has achieved a verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
For us, the EPD is about transparency. It gives architects, specifiers, sustainability consultants, and clients clear environmental data they can use when assessing our system as part of a project.
It also gives our team something equally valuable: a detailed picture of where our environmental impacts come from and where we can improve.
What is an Environmental Product Declaration?
An Environmental Product Declaration, or EPD, reports the environmental impact of a product across defined stages of its life cycle.
Think of it a little like a nutrition label for a construction product. Rather than making broad sustainability claims, an EPD uses a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to provide measurable environmental data.
Our EPD has been published through BRE Global and independently verified in accordance with EN ISO 14025:2010. It has been produced in accordance with EN 15804:2012+A2:2019 and the applicable BRE Product Category Rules.
What does our Living Wall System EPD cover?
The assessment looks at a reference configuration of 100m² of our polypropylene Modular Living Wall System® over a 30-year period.
It considers environmental impacts across key stages of the system’s life cycle, including:
- Raw materials and manufacturing
- Transport and installation
- Use and maintenance
- Operational energy and water
- End of life
- Potential benefits from reuse, recovery, and recycling
That gives project teams detailed data to consider alongside the wider benefits of bringing nature into the built environment.
Why does the EPD matter to Viritopia?
Plants are at the heart of what we do. But creating greener places also means looking closely at the materials, processes, and resources needed to make those places possible.
The EPD helps us do that.
Alongside giving project teams independently verified environmental data, the assessment gives us a benchmark for our system. We can see where impacts occur across its life cycle and use that evidence to guide future decisions.
It’s part of our wider commitment to keep asking questions, learning from the evidence, and finding better ways to create living, breathing façades that benefit people and planet for generations to come.
