'Wales In Bloom'

Viritopia was delighted to be approached by WHR to construct a living wall at the Prestatyn Shopping Centre in North Wales; this contributed towards the 'Wales in Bloom' award. Our task was to install two free standing external living walls (instead of a traditional timber fence) meant to enhance the area between the shopping mall and the service yard / goods in entrance.

Planting design

Not only did it make the shopping mall very attractive, it made it a very desirable place for members of the public to congregate whilst enjoying a coffee. A striped design was chosen to incorporate plant species such as Carex 'Frosted Curls', Heuchera 'Palace Purple' and Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote', all meant to add colour and seasonal interest.

A winner!

Due to the ease of access at this shopping park, the installation only took four days. The 'Wales in Bloom' judge announced that Prestatyn had won a GOLD award.
